Check out my tips for how to keep flowers fresh! I loved shooting this segment and the reporters couldn't be nicer. We had a lot of laughs behind the scenes. They like my soda dig and said Mayor Bloomberg would be proud;)

LaForce and Stevens in NYC asked us to come up with something for the dinner they were organizing, so we decided to create a pinterest board for them, and give a lot of options. Ultimately they chose the hydgrangea, which we created out of about 10 different pieces and then laid it down to create an 18ft centerpiece. Kristin Davis, Dita Von Teese, and a slew of others attended the dinner. Gwen Stefani, at the Chateau with Gavin and the kids walked by and told her son, Look how pretty that table is. Definitely a high form of flattery. Good style never goes out of fashion. Photos courtesy of Wire Image and LaForce and Stevens. Thanks ladies!
I love creating out-of-the-box arrangements! There are few events where we can get enough creative freedom to try new materials and ideas. We really don't get a chance to do that for weddings, which is understandable. Brides usually have a pretty clear idea of what they want, especially through the boom of Pinterest. So we were so excited when we got a call from the Coalition for Clean Air! Their theme was Formula One since Jay Leno was being awarded that night and it was held at the Peterson Auto Museum. They loved the idea of working with an eco-friendly florist and our funky style. Using the Formula One theme and to assure environmentally-friendly arrangements, we suggested using recycled car parts as the vases. They loved the idea - great for us! So off to the junkyard, aka car cemetery, we went! We managed to document our adventure. As you know, I'm not a fan of how the e-how series turned out. 10 videos in 3 hours with no rehearsals or anything is really hard to do. You can see me trying to remember the convoluted titles on cue. This one is pretty decent and you can see the smirk as I say "pull the head off" - man, I'm such a sicko.
And, I'm doing the infamous TRIANGLE MOUTH! Alex always likes to point out this mouth, and if you saw that dumb James Franco movie, where they're in Medieval Times with Natalie Portman and I think the guy from Tropic Thunder(?), you will remember the line, Never do triangle mouth- It scares me! Alex does say I'm very mouthy, with mannerisms and such, which makes me self-conscious and even more mouthy. Ay! Click here to watch or click the photo. To be honest, I'm not super happy with these videos. I'm bland and flat. We did ten videos with only one take and I improvised the whole thing without a breakdown of each point, which is pretty obvious! A good lesson and reminder that when you're on film, you gotta be 110%. The camera catches everything.
My website will only allow YouTube videos, so here's the link to e-how What are your thoughts? Triangle Mouth is in full force here. Recapping a moment. Why must everything always be dirty? Too bad we didn't get on tape how the inside of a calla looks like a Georgia O'Keefe painting, or the phallic nature of anthiriums. |
